Length must be between 500-2000 words. **
The Short Story needs to show an understanding of one real place on Earth, and its unique problems. /3
The story demonstrates that the writer researched a variety of solutions for the future. and specifically imagines how people will create electricity, transportation and food in the future. /3
The story shows a more equitable, diverse, accepting future . / 3
The story imagines how our sense of community might differ in the future. (eg. buildings/housing/celebrations/work. /3
The story represents how the natural world and biodiversity might be restored /3
The story has a believable main character (s) /3
The story has an interesting problem that, for the main part, gets solved. /3
The story has a story arc, a sense of a beginning, middle and end. /3
The story has been edited and is, for the most part, free of errors. (Not including minor spelling or grammar errors that do not hurt the reading.) /3
The writer’s work is compelling and unique. /3

We are not looking for art that simply shows us the ravages of the Climate Crisis. Dig deeper. Show us solutions and a better, possible future. Give us something to work toward!

The artwork demonstrates that the artist researched solutions for the future of their chosen region and has specifically imagined how: people will create electricity &/or transportation &/or food &or how our sense of community might improve in the future. (eg. buildings/housing or celebrations/work, etc.) The artwork could focus on 1,2,3, or all of these topics. /3
The artwork represents how the natural world and biodiversity might be restored /3
The artwork shows a more equitable, diverse, accepting future . Symbols may be used. / 3
The artist(s)'s work is compelling and unique. The medium chosen works! The artwork shows the artist's vision and makes viewers think. /3
